Professional restorer of Antique and Vintage Musical Boxes
Hello, my name is James Preddy and I am a professional restorer of Antique and Vintage Musical Boxes. My business is The Music Box Restorer and I cover all areas of restoration, whatever your needs. My passion is bringing these wonderful instruments back to life, making them sing again as the makers intended for all to enjoy.
My journey started back when I did my initial training and apprenticeship at the Mechanical Music Museum. It was here where I gained my knowledge and restoration skills on Musical Boxes and it was also where my love and passion for mechanical music grew! At the famous museum I steadily worked my way up from Apprentice to Chief Restorer and then Workshop Manager and Advisor. It is these qualities I carry forward with me in to my business The Music Box Restorer and with every restoration I utilise the skill set I have developed over the years, restoring with great care and sympathy for each piece.
I restore for many private clients and important collections worldwide...
Today I restore for many private clients and important collections worldwide including consultation for the Singapore Musical Box Museum
and National Trust Museums: Falkland Islands Museum
and Overbeck’s Museum & Garden.
If you have a musical item you are thinking of having restored or just have an interest in mechanical music then please take a look at my social media pages where I will also be posting interesting and entertaining content including music boxes and related pieces!
